Greetings to all cockers. I have been breeding gamefowls since my elementary days and I vividly remember my first gamefowl was a gift from my late Dad, a Red Jungle Fowl otherwise known in Tagalog as Labuyo, the said fowl was tamed and eventually sparred against Texas fowls, i would say this was the first fowl that opened my eyes and introduced me in the sport of cockfighting, aside from the fact that both sides of my lineage are into cockfighting suffice it to say, cockfighting runs from our blood. I am just a backyard breeder, breeding gamefowls in Calumpang Binangonan, Rizal. Being a mere backyard breeder/cocker, I personally tend to my fowls from shell to pit i.e from breeding, rearing, conditioning, handling/pointing, albeit gaffing is the only thing that i don't do. One of my idol in the history of Philippine cockfighting is none other than the Henry Yap of Palawan. Another cocker-breeder that i admire is Lancey Dela Torre who in my opinion has an innate talent on breeding gamefowls, At present i maintain just a few lines namely my old line Kelso, Allen and Hugh Norman Lacy Roundhead crosses which i acquired from HGY Palawan. I have a Duke Hulsey Lemon (Bob Cuenca Line) and on Sweater side I use DF 5K Line, Stuart YLH. By being a backyard breeder motivates me to breed competitive gamefowls win or lose to the so called "bigtime cockers". I usually join derbies 1 or 2 times a year and seeing my fowls compete in the pit drives my adrenalin to its peak, words can't simply describe the feeling. Sabong for me is JUST a game, hobby and past time, i don’t bet too much as i give much importance and emphasis on seeing my fowls win their fight. It does not matter for me even when i retire in the sport i still remain a backyard cocker what matter most is I enjoyed the game and for me it is There where fulfillment resides.
